If a defrost heater has burnt
out it can be a serious problem.
You may notice that your
evaporator coil is full of ice.
When your coil is iced up you
are no longer getting the air
flow required across the
evaporator and your freezer will
begin to warm up causing your
food to defrost.
Did you know that if a freezer
did not go into defrost a few
times a day, the evaporator
would soon freeze solid? One
would assume that a frozen coil
would keep a freezer cold enough
to allow your food product to
stay frozen. A evaporator needs
to be ice free in order to get
enough air flow across the
evaporator to freeze things. |
