Here is some information we have found on Title 24 requirements for refrigeration lighting.  After review of the standard and discussion with the California Energy Commission for confirmation, dimming is not required for our walk-in applications. Freezers are specifically excluded from the dimming requirement. Coolers require at least 50% dimming and with our motion sensor, we provide 100% dimming. That is acceptable per the California Energy Commission.

For your reference, below are links to the actual code:  

1. Coolers - The requirement of Section 130.1(c)6A of the 2013 Building Energy Efficiency Standards is applicable to lighting in aisle ways and open area in warehouse and must be equipped with occupant sensing controls that automatically reduce the lighting power by at least 50%. If the control shuts them off entirely meaning it reduces the lighting power by 100% that would be compliant with the standards
2. Freezers – The provision in Section 140.6(a)3E of the above document states that walk-in freezers are exempt from the lighting wattage calculations – where freezer is defined as a space designed to operate at less than 28°F.  Meaning that the walk-in freezer refrigeration system is the only energy use used for calculations for acceptance to the standards requirements.

TECHS AND SPECS 

The dimensions of the line are 15" or 20" wide, 38" tall, 24" deep with 6" adjustable legs and the ability to fit under 34” ADA countertops with an optional floor mount kit. The line consists of three different storage and production units: 

CU0415 – 36-lb daily storage, up to 58-lb daily production  

CU0715 – 36-lb daily storage, up to 80-lb daily production  

CU0920 – 57-lb daily storage, up to 100-lb daily production  

EASE OF USE 

The Essential line is easy to use with its built-in sliding back door to conserve space and allow easy access to the ice bin. The line has an ample access area complete with a large dishwasher-safe scoop to make it easy to reach the ice. Additionally, the Essential line has an intuitive control panel that features a prominent on/off/clean switch and easy-to-see buttons to adjust ice thickness and harvest time. 

RELIABILITY 

The line is built with an innovative horizontal evaporator that eliminates minerals in ice cubes and ensures quality ice, every time. Essential also comes with a three-year warranty that assures operators are getting the best ice machine for their operation.  

SUSTAINABILITY 

The Essential line uses R-134a refrigerant, which has a low ozone-depleting potential and is made of recyclable materials to further increase operators’ sustainability efforts.
